Suara 1946 - Inside the transmitter hut

"A general view of the TX hut interior before completion. In the foregroundthe main power switchboard is on the left and the distribution switchboard on the right . Beyond the desks some of the Marconi Txs, the far ones running dummy lamp loads, the near one part assembled. Note the fans and lights, Apart from these the double doors at the ends of the hut (closed for the purpose of the photograph) were the only source of ventilation and daylight."

"A closer view of a Power Supply Unit under construction. The next tx is a TFS31, a band-switched unit which eliminated the chore of coil changing as in the SWB's"

"Nearest on left the glow of the dummy load lamps is just in camera. On the next tx (a TFS31) is a frame of load lamps. Each lamp was 250 watts, and we referred to them as "Robertson Lamps".

Units on right foreground are low power txs for Port W/T etc. I think (subject to correction) these were Type G12T made by Rediffusion Ltd and were used with the single wire vertical aerials.2
